Point Park University’s Project Children L.E.A.D. (Learning Early to Appreciate Diversity) is holding a diversity creativity contest for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in school districts in Allegheny County, as a part its 5th Annual Multicultural Diversity conference. The contest asks students in each grade to write a story or a poem, or create an original piece of artwork that reflects on the question: “How has diversity positively affected your life?” Criteria that each entry must meet is either a story of 100-200 words, a poem of 10-20 lines, or a work of art using any medium.

All entries must be submitted by March 26th, 2010, and they will be judged by a panel of educators from Point Park University. There will be three winners from each grade. First place winners will receive $50, second place winners will receive $35, and third place winners will receive $25. The teachers of each first place winner from each grade will also receive an award and be asked to speak about incorporating multi-cultural education into their personal classrooms at the 5th Annual Project Children L.E.A.D. conference on May 7, 2010. Winners of the contest will be notified by April 9, 2010.
