HELPER/RELIEF OPERATOR – BUTLER WATER TREATMENT PLANT (6093)
SHIFT: 1st
HOURS OF WORK: Mon-Fri, 7:30 am to 3:30 PM
PRIMARY ROLE: Assisting the maintenance person and Relief Plant Operator
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assisting the maintenance person or performing the following duties on their own: maintenance on motors, pumps, switch
gear, chemical feed equipment, mixing and sedimentation basin equipment, filters, intakes, wells, valves, control/monitoring equipment, building,
grounds, and other related equipment. Operation of the water treatment facilities, pumping facilities and other related facilities. Operation of all pumps, motors, screens, switch gear, chemical feed equipment, settling tanks, “control systems,” laboratory equipment, and valves. Perform any other duties assigned by Water Company supervisor.
SKILLS: Required to make water treatment control tests and calculations necessary to control the water treatment and pumpage of the facility
KNOWLEDGE: Must have a working knowledge of all tools used in maintaining all related plant equipment Since this classification also has operating duties, must have a

ASSISTANT OPERATOR-MAINTENANCE – ALDRICH LOCATED IN ELRAMA, PA (6213)
SHIFT: Rotating
HOURS OF WORK: Rotating
PRIMARY ROLE: Asst. Operator – Maintenance of the Aldrich Plant
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assist the operator in making all necessary water treatment control tests and calculations to control water treatment and pumpage to provide potable water necessary to meet system demands. Replace the operator during vacations, sickness, or other absences; be willing and capable of qualifying for an operator’s job. Unload and handle chemicals, set manual chemical adjustments, do light maintenance and required cleaning. Capable of reading and interpreting all charts, gauges, graphs and other devices (SCADA) normally used in operating a water treatment facility. Maintain, repair and install mechanical and electrical equipment such as pumps, motors, switch gear, storage tanks, compressors, intake screens, chemical feed equipment and other maintenance work. Work with maintenance personnel in the repair and installation of equipment as required. Make inspection trips to the pumping and treatment facilities and report on plant conditions; make corrections as required by conditions. Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
SKILLS: Excellent math, basic hydraulics, technical skills, and be able to distinguish colors. Applicants must have background in maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical, electrical and related equipment. Experience in water treatment plant or related field preferred. Rotating shift position.
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the operation of all motors, pumps, switchgear, screens, chemical feed equipment and other equipment as necessary to meet the changing demand of the distribution system and related water treatment plant facilities.

PRIMARY ROLE: To perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection system facilities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Operate a truck and see that it is kept properly equipped with tools, parts and construction supplies and kept neat and orderly at all times. Deliver crews to assigned job sites, direct crews in job layout, safety and work to be performed. Install, maintain and repair mains, services, valves and hydrants. Investigate complaints of riled water, low pressures and similar consumer complaints. Be able to locate water lines and other utilities and services. Perform other normal duties which may be assigned by the supervisor.
SKILLS: High School Diploma/GED. Applicant must have a working knowledge of the distribution system and be able to read location maps and valve indexes, make sketches and
reports as necessary and required.
KNOWLEDGE: Must possess a valid PA drivers’ license. Class E Distribution license preferred. Having working knowledge of distribution/collection systems is preferred.
